Jacquelinne White

Entitled Portrait of Kenneth #1, this 1957 oil on canvas abstracted figure is by Bay Area artist and teacher Jacquelinne White (1919-2008).  White was a musician who transitioned into painting, earning her BFA and MFA in the late 1950s-early 1960s. She exhibited at the Legion of Honor in 1961 and in a group show with John Cage and Kenneth Rexroth. White illustrated two children’s books in the 1990s and lived in Bolinas, CA. Kenneth Rexroth was an important San Francisco Poet of the Beat Era.
