Forrest Hibbits

This 1930-60s ink on board drawing of a shepherdess singing in french with the caption Il ƒtait une Berg?re...Qui Gardait ses moutons which translates to He was a shepherd who gaurded his sheep, is by California artist Forrest Hibbits (1905-1996). Hibbits graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts. He exhibited at SFMOMA, the de Young Museum, the Oakland Museum of Art, and the Legion of Honor. Hibbits worked as a commercial artist at Patterson & Sullivan, a San Francisco ad agency in the 1920s-1930s.
