Barbara Lewis

This 1940s monochromatic linoleum block print of a duck is by Chicago-based painter, photographer, and printmaker Barbara Lewis (1925-2008). Lewis studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1943), University of Illinois at Chicago (1967-70), and the IIT Institute of Design (MFA in Printmaking, 1970-72). Through her mixed-media compositions, she explored Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, often using imagery of Chicago and her travels to Europe and Northern Africa.

Estate stamped lower right. Good vintage condition, minor foxing. Framed in a restored vintage wood frame with an aqua-blue finish using 8-ply archival matting with a yellow bevel behind conservation clear glass.
