Raphael Roig

Entitled Monument for, this 1967 ink and colored pencil drawing is by Raphael Roig (1923-2014), a Puerto Rican-born artist and architect. He studied at Columbia University, UCLA, and USC, earning master's degrees in architecture, industrial design, and public admin. He became a leading environmentalist for the Air Force and helped design their Academy in Colorado Springs. He lived in Pacific Palisades, CA, where he painted, worked in stained glass, and sculpted in stone and clay. The pieces is the Lost Art Collection come from a small sketchbook Roig kept in the early 1960s.
