This 2002 oil on canvas view of the San Francisco Bay entitled View from Alta Plaza Park, San Francisco is by California artist Marion Seawell (1928-2017). Seawell was born in 1928 in Yakima, Washington. It was 18 years later, in Big Sur, California, that she was transformed from a teenage girl who loved to draw horses into a true artist. Except for a couple of forays — one to New York for two years, another for six months to a fishing village in Alaska — she has lived all of her adult life in Northern California. She died in Mill Valley in 2017.

Signed and dated lower left, signed, dated and titled on the back. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a contemporary wood floater frame with a silver face and walnut open grain sides.
