Francisco Bores was a Spanish modernist painter and an important figure of twentieth-century European art. Bores moved to Paris in the 1920s as part of the second wave of Spanish artists to pilgrimage to the art mecca. Other notable artists from this second Spanish wave include Pablo Picasso, Gines Parra, Pedro Flores and Antoni Clave.

Bores was deeply influenced by the work of his peers and predecessors, especially the work of Picasso and Matisse, often combining the geometric abstraction of the former with the lyrical figurative of the latter. His artworks are largely held by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid, but can also be seen at New York's Museum of Modern Art, the National Art Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Reina Sofía National Art Museum in Madrid.
