Jennings Tofel
This early to mid 20th century pen and ink on paper scene is by Polish-born New York Expressionist Jennings Tofel (1891-1959). Tofel was a friend of Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz. He received an art grant to work in Paris in the 1920s. Tofel was a WPA artist. His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Tofel is known for his allegorical, Expressionist figurative scenes.
