This 1972 abstracted pastel portrait is by Abstract Surrealist San Francisco artist Michael di Cosola (1929-2010). Di Cosola studied at the Chicago Art Institute before moving to the Bay Area to study at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. He had a studio in North Beach during the height of the neighborhood's art scene and exhibited at several Bay Area art galleries in the 1960s. Di Cosola is known for psychedelic, Surrealist portraiture and abstractions.

Drawing of the artist's long time partner. Signed and dated in the image area on the right. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a contemporary wood frame with a rainbow inlaid veneer and black sides with a clear lacquer finish using archival matting behind conservation clear glass.
