This 1950 monochrome charcoal Cubist abstract is by Santa Fe artist Seymour Tubis (1919-1993). Tubis studied at the Art Students League with Hans Hofmann (1946-1949). He exhibited in Paris in 1950 and won praise from Georges Braque. He was Chair of the Fine Art Department at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (1963-1980).

Initialed and dated lower right. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a restored antique wood frame with a flared face, ornate inlay and bronze finish using archival spacers behind conservation clear glass.
