Seymour Tubis
This 1950s charcoal and pastel on paper scene is by Santa Fe artist Seymour Tubis (1919-1993) and is modeled after a well known painting by Vermeer. Tubis studied at the Art Students League with Hans Hofmann (1946-1949). He exhibited in Paris in 1950 and won praise from Georges Braque. He was Chair of the Fine Art Department at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (1963-1980).

Estate stamped lower right. Excellent vintage condition. Framed floating in a restored vintage wood frame with stained red-brown finish using clear archival spacers behind conservation clear glass.
