Rob Delamater
Entitled Weimar Series VI, this 2023 monotype on paper portrait is by San Francisco artist and Lost Art Salon co-owner Rob Delamater (b.1966). Delamater creates abstract compositions that evoke organic shapes and motifs from the natural world. His works are created using various forms of printmaking, painting, and collage.
"Each of these one of a kind monotype prints was inspired by a photograph by August Sander (1876-1964). Saunder photographed a cross-section of society in Germany - secretaries, artists, bricklayers, musicians, persecuted Jews - during the Weimar Republic period of the 1920s and 30s. He lifted each subject up to a place of respect and beauty and I am attempting to do the same with my version of his iconic images."
