Seymour Tubis

This Mid Century oil painting mixed with New Mexican earth pigments entitled Desert Bloom is by Santa Fe artist Seymour Tubis (1919-1993). Tubis studied at the Art Students League with Hans Hofmann (1946-1949). He exhibited in Paris in 1950 and won praise from Georges Braque. He was Chair of the Fine Art Department at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (1963-1980).

Signed lower right. Framed in a restored vintage wood frame with a Mid Century profile and distress gray-brown and gold finish. Excellent vintage condition.
