Entitled "Turning the Cable", this San Francisco cityscape etching is by Rosinda Holmes. Rosinda Holmes (born on March 6, 1917, in Rosedale, British Columbia, Canada) and Rexford Holmes (born on March 13, 1913, in Los Angeles, California) often worked in the same medium and style, capturing iconic images of SF and the Bay Area. Rexford studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in the late 1930s before settling in San Francisco in 1941, where he was active until 1958. During this period, he exhibited at prestigious venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Art and the California Palace of Legion of Honor. In 1942, Rosinda, after graduating from Chouinard Art Institute in 1940 and working in a San Diego advertising agency, married Rexford and moved with him to San Francisco, where they took up residence in Maynard Dixon's former studio (later the Melvin Belli office). In 1958, they moved to a prune farm near Healdsburg, California, Rexford and Rosinda lived and worked together in Healdsburg until her death in 2001. Rexford continued to reside in Healdsburg until his passing in 2009.
