

Carl Griepenburg
This 1960s acrylic on canvas scene is by the artist Carl Griepenburg (1906-?). Griepenburg was an award-winning American painter who worked in both Florida and San Francisco during the mid-twentieth century. He began his career in the 1920s designing movie posters before turning to fine art. Griepenburg lived and painted in Florida during the 1950s and 1960s, where his work received multiple awards, and later worked extensively in San Francisco as a renowned street artist from the 1960s through the 1980s, supporting himself through the sale of his paintings.
