ArtTalk: Thursday, November 13th at 6pm

Join us for our next ArtTalk
"How to Look at Art in the Post-Pollock Decades"

Thursday, November 13th at 6pm

Presented by Rob Delamater, Co-Founder of Lost Art Salon

After the early 1950s, abstract art fractured into a range of dynamic directions—Hard-Edge Painting, Color Field, Abstracted Figuration, Urban Muralism, Graffiti, and a continued evolution of Abstract Expressionism. While these genres now fill the walls of institutions like MoMA, they can still feel distant or difficult to interpret for many viewers.

In this ArtTalk, we’ll explore the motivations behind these artistic shifts and offer accessible tools to help you better understand and appreciate these bold, often challenging works. We'll spotlight influential artists such as Joan Mitchell, Alice Neel, Philip Guston, Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Hockney, Ellsworth Kelly, Gerhard Richter, and more.

That evening, we’ll also debut the work and legacy of four historic “Masters of Abstraction” whose careers reflect these post-Pollock developments in compelling and diverse ways:

Leigh Hyams (1926–2013)

J. Cook (1935–2022)

Mark Symczak (1954–2015)

Joseph DiStefano (1940–2020)

Join us for an evening of discovery, insight, and conversation as we reconnect with the richness and relevance of abstract/ed art in the second half of the 20th Century.

All seats are now reserved. However, you can send us an email to staff@lostartsalon.com with the number in your party, requesting to be put on our waitlist. We generally get some cancellations.

We will also be broadcasting this ArtTalk live on Instagram at the same time as the live event.
