This 1915 graphite on paper nude study is by the artist Ruth Brown Kroscher (1893-1986) who was a Chicago artist, teacher, and botanist. She studied at Northwestern University and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and taught art in Wisconsin until 1919. She lectured on and wrote a book about roses with her husband's photography that is still unpublished. Throughout her life, Ruth was eager to learn in both classroom and informal settings.
