Nanette Genoud, painter and printmaker, was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1907. She studied at the University of Fribourg-en-Brisgau as well as the Conservatory of Lausanne. She continued her art studies in Paris as well later in life. Her work is characterized by soft and loose delicacy, similar to that of her impressionist predecessor, the painter Mary Cassatt. Similarly, Genoud focused on subject matter that emphasized the female experience, womanhood, and domesticity.

During a trip to Egypt in 1961, she painted a magnificent mural in the reception of a grand hotel in Cairo. Her work is currently held in the collection of the Lausanne Historical Museum, Department of Paintings and Graphic Arts.
