Jennings Tofel
This early to mid 20th century ink on paper surreal figure scene is by Polish-born New York Expressionist Jennings Tofel (1891-1959). Tofel was a friend of Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz. He received an art grant to work in Paris in the 1920s. His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Tofel is known for his allegorical, Expressionist figurative scenes.

Signed lower right. Good vintage condition. Framed in a restored ornately carved vintage wood frame with a matte cream finish and gold center using 8-ply archival matting with a black reveal behind conservation clear glass.
