This 1949 oil painting entitled Mimosa (Blue) is by Santa Fe artist Seymour Tubis (1919-1993). Tubis studied at the Art Students League with Hans Hofmann (1946-1949). He exhibited in Paris in 1950 and won praise from Georges Braque. He was Chair of the Fine Art Department at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (1963-1980). This piece was exhibited at Tubis' first solo show in Paris, France which was attended by Georges Braque.

Signed lower left; signed, dated and titled on the back. Framed in an antique wood frame with distressed cream and gray finish with a linen filet. Excellent vintage condition.
