Lost Art Salon is a San Francisco-based gallery that specializes in the rediscovery of historically significant artists and the curation of fine art collections reflecting the major styles and movements of the Modern Era.  Our public showroom offers over 5,000 one-of-a-kind paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and objects from the late 19th Century through the present, with a strong emphasis on 20th Century Modernism.

Lost Art Salon was conceived out of the desire to find an audience for artists who may have been overlooked by the confines of art history.  Long-time friends and co-owners, Gaetan Caron and Rob Delamater, began the process of restoring and presenting found art in their living rooms in San Francisco’s Mission District in 2003.  In 2005, Lost Art moved into its current location on South Van Ness, and soon shifted the focus from single flea market finds to extensive artist collections.

We work directly with the families and colleagues of our artists to bring these collections out of storage units, barns, and attics, back to life and into the homes and design projects of our clientele.  Following the initial acquisition, we carry these collections through the stages of in-depth biographical research, restoration and conservation, archiving, curation, framing, and final presentation in our Salon.  Introducing these lost artists and their life’s work to the public is a labor of love and a meaningful process for us and for their families. We cherish our role as caretakers of art history and the legacies of these overlooked artists.
