This 1950s gouache and ink fashion illustration of a woman in a black dress is by fashion designer Frederick Gibson Bayh (1917-2007). Bayh frequently used silks and brocades selected from Gump's famous collection of Asian art treasures. Bayh designed with a dramatic sense of Hollywood glamour for clients such as Dinah Shore, Lily Pons, and Anne Baxter . Some of his original garments can be found in fashion museums around the world. Bayh often attached a fabric swatch to his designs.
