This 1980 oil on canvas abstract entitled The Blowing Away of Nevada is by West Coast Abstract Expressionist painter Adine Stix (1909-1987). Stix studied Art at Skidmore College and worked with her husband Hugh Stix to develop the New York Artist's Gallery in the 1930s. Painted in her Pyramid Lake, Nevada studio built with the proceeds from the 1961 film The Misfits, which was filmed on her ranch.
