Jennings Tofel

This early to mid 20th century ink on paper drawing is by Polish-born New York Expressionist Jennings Tofel (1891-1959). Tofel was a friend of Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz. He received an art grant to work in Paris in the 1920s. His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Tofel is known for his allegorical, Expressionist figurative scenes.

Estate stamped lower right on mat. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a restored vintage wood frame with ornate carvings on the black finish in between gold finishes on outer edge and inner lip, using 8 ply archival mat, behind conservation clear glass.
